An upbeat song that I wrote for the Young Methodist Leaders’ Conference last year. Christianity today is in many ways institutionalised, but behind ritual, routine and cliche, there stands a sovereign God who desires relationship and deserves praise. “I’m Following You” is about going beyond the patterns of religion, and taking a renewed stand in living out our faith.
This day I give You praise
Not just cause everybody’s here
I want to follow You
And know You’re always near
This day I speak Your truth
Though these are words I’ve used before
I’m here to live for you
To love You more and more
Lord teach me how to live for You
To be Your light and truth
Lord keep me close by Your side
For You I lay all aside
